77% on Chinese mobile will buy 3G handsets

Broadband wireless access technology and environment advanced rapidly during the 2006. This year will see wireless broadband reaching end users in respectable numbers all around the world.

According to Mobilemonday  a survey released in last week in Beijing claims that more than 77 percent of Chinese mobile users are keen to buy 3G handsets when they become available. Merely 6 percent of users say they would not buy one.

17 percent of users are unsure and say they might buy 3G handsets, says t the survey by the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID)

The most advanced 3G services are driving the demand. Potential users are waiting for mobile TV, video calls and high-speed Internet access. Music downloads, multimedia transmissions and wireless positioning are also among the desired services, reports Xinhua News.

Three quarters of the respondents said they would spend less than 2,500 yuan or EUR 250. One in four would pay only 1,000 yuan or less. Less than 24 percent of the users would consider buying high-end handsets that cost more than 2,500 yuan, according to the survey.
