Nortel partners with Toshiba for WiMAX

Canadian telecom equipment maker Nortel has entered into a partnership with Toshiba to develop WiMAX base stations for the Japanese and world markets. The stations will be based on Nortel’s next-generation broadband technology and Toshiba’s amplifier and miniaturization technology. Nortel has already inked WiMAX-related deals with Runcom, Mobile Satellite Ventures, AirSpan and Intel, but has yet to seal the deal with Sprint for a place on its WiMAX vendor roster.
