Samsung has announced the G800,5-Megapixel Cameraphone

Samsung has announced the G800, what it calls the world’s first 5-megapixel cameraphone with 3X optical zoom. The handset also includes other high-end digital camera features such as panorama shots, multishots and macro-shots, as well as a video editing application so users can easily cut, paste and edit their own films from their handsets. The G800 also includes face detection and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) features.

Designed for 2-handed grip when taking pictures, the G800’s 2.4-inch QVGA LCD display allows users to view the screen like a digital camera. The 3X optical zoom is an inner zoom, so that the lens does not extend outside the body of the phone.

“As multi-megapixel cameraphone becomes more and more popular, the needs of actual digital camera-like features grow together. Samsung’s G800 will satisfy the unmet needs in the camera category with a true digital camera-like design and functionality,” Geesung Choi, president of Samsung’s Telecommunication Network, said in a statement. “The G800 will enable users to capture and share precious moments in their daily lives through the enhanced camera functions in a fast 3G network.”

The Samsung G800 will be available in Europe beginning next month.

Sony Ericsson Cell Phone Roadmap for 2008

On the plus side, we’ve come across a poster that is said to depict a series of new Sony Ericsson cell phones scheduled for release some time in 2008. On the down side, whoever found this poster failed to come back with any sort of spec sheet. Based on their predecessors, however, it shouldn’t be too difficult to venture a guess as to what these hot new handsets are going to offer.Starting at the top-right is the Sony Ericsson W970i. This Walkman phone seems to have something similar to the iPod’s click wheel for musical navigation to go with its memory card expansion and what looks like a 5.0 megapixel camera. Going clockwise, we have the Cyber-shot K830i, a picture-oriented candybar, presumably, with a 3.2 megapixel camera.

banner-7.jpg

Finally, there is the Sony Ericsson K860i, which will probably be similar to the K830i in many ways, but improve upon it in some way. You’ll notice that the K860i comes with those round buttons, much like those found on the K810 camera phone. Whether any of these images are legitimate or not is anyone’s guess.  Source:http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/340/C13544/

First BlackBerry with Wi-Fi Available from AT&T

AT&T announced that the first Wi-Fi-enabled BlackBerry will be available tomorrow through the carrier’s retail outlets and online stores. Set to launch Sept. 20, the BlackBerry 8820 is Research in Motion’s first Wi-Fi-capable handset.

“The new BlackBerry 8820 builds on AT&T’s leading domestic and international coverage footprint by giving customers the ability to link with their company’s wireless campus network or access e-mail and browse the Web at Wi-Fi hotspots,” Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of marketing and operations for AT&T’s wireless unit, said in a statement. “That makes the BlackBerry 8820 from AT&T an exceptional world phone for global use by business customers and individuals alike.”

As far as other voice features, the RIM BlackBerry 8820 offers a speakerphone, voice-activated dialing, smart dialing, conference calling, speed dial, and world roaming. The phone book is limited only by the available memory (the SIM card holds an additional 250 contacts), offering room in each entry for eight phone numbers, e-mail addresses, work and home address, job title, and more. For caller ID purposes, you can assign a photo to a contact as well to a group category, business or personal. Another AT&T-specific offering is push-to-talk capabilities. Plans start at $9.99 per month, and with it, you can instantly see the availability of your contacts before calling them and make individual or group PTT calls. The RIM BlackBerry 8820 is rated for 5 hours of talk time and up to 22 days of standby time.

pictures-of-the-new-treo-500-phone-check-out-back-and-side-views-and-color-schemes.jpg

Palm Europe announced the new Treo 500v smartphone, a handset combining high-speed communications with multimedia capabilities.

The Treo 500 runs on Windows Mobile 6, comes with a full keyboard, large screen, video streaming capability and comprehensive multi-messaging functionality including IM, SMS, e-mail and voice functions. The new Palm handset is 3G/UMTS compatible, includes Bluetooth and a 2-megapixel camera.

It initially will be available through Vodafone in Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the U.K. and for Vodacom customers in South Africa beginning in October.

John Hartnett, senior vice president of Global Markets and Windows Business Unit at Palm, said in a statement: “We are pleased to be one of the first partners to provide an Internet-ready Vodafone live! smartphone. The Treo 500v is priced to enable a broader audience to experience the Internet and e-mail on the go.”

The Treo 500v will not be available in the United States, although rumor has it that Palm is planning new devices for the North American market to be announced later this year.

Nokia 6120 – Classic mobile

nokia6120.gif

The 6120 Classic is a classic-looking Nokia finished with attractive chromed highlights (available in black, white and pink). It’s a slimline phone with a large screen, and an easy-to-use keypad and 5-way navigation key. Like the very popular 6300, it gives the impression of an old-fashioned Nokia (which is a good thing) as if the company has learned some lessons and is getting back to what it used to do so well – making great phones that do just what you want.Technorati Profile

t650i-v2.png

Sony Ericsson has dubbed its latest device, the T650i, as a style icon. UK and Ireland marketing manager Ian Finn said the manufacturer was going down a ‘new design route’, as it’s known for its camera and music devices, rather than fashion handsets. ‘It is for the person who wants to make a statement with their phone,’ he said.

The device comes in stainless steel casing and has a scratch-proof mineral glass screen. It is also a 3G device with a 3.2 megapixel camera and comes with a desk stand, carry case and a 256MB memory stick.

UltraIM Pro : Version 1.2 for Nokia / Motorola and sonyEricsson

ultraimpro_snapshot.gif

UltraIM Pro is the best, feature-rich mobile MSN client. It supports not only text chatting, Smileys, but also files and photos sharing between MSN clients and mobile MSN clients. Furthermore, UltraIM Pro also supports other advanced MSN features, like “MSN display picture” changing and receiving. This software is really the best MSN mobile application that you can find. It is the most popular dedicated MSN mobile application and is recommended between MSN lovers. Our target is to deploy full.

1.jpg

Main AdvantageSend photos or files to your MSN friends via absolute peer-to-peer way. UltraIM Pro supports genuine P2P file sending like real MSN does. Unlike other mobile instant messengers on the market, most of them upload photos or files to their server first, then notify your MSN friend to download them again. UltraIM Pro sends photos and files to your MSN friends directly, never passed by our server!

The only mobile messenger supports “MSN display picture” changing and receiving! UltraIM Pro is the only mobile messenger that supports “MSN display picture” and utilizes the power of your camera phone. All you have to do is to take pictures and set it as your display picture in UltraIM Pro, then buddies chatting with you will see the picture automatically! The picture sharing is implemented by peer-to-peer technology, never passed by any server. Once the picture is transferred it won`t be transferred again, because receivers have cached the picture, just like real MSN does!

UltraIM Pro is real proxyless. Why proxyless is very important? It means you can connect as a standard MSN client without any compromise. And connecting to the public MSN network directly can save you money by reducing network flow significantly. In order to provide a fast, economical and full-functionality service, UltraIM Pro connects you directly to the public MSN network, not via proxy server.

Features

  • Sound notification for selected users when they are online NEW!
  • Message templates NEW!
  • Change in contact’s icon for incoming messages NEW!
  • A bandwidth usage meter NEW!

Nokia Launchies two high end mobile N95 and N81

A glimpse at the two high-end phones

Let’s step back from the marketing spin and take a closer look at the two high-end models, the N95 and the N81.

The N81 has 3G and WLAN connectivity, an optional 8GB of microSD removable storage for up to 6,000 songs, a 2.4″ 320×240 display, Bluetooth 2.0 support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an FM radio, all in a slide-phone form factor. One of the highlights of the N81 is its ability to play games in the landscape mode, thanks to two gaming buttons on the top of the screen. One of the newest features Nokia announced is an improved UI, which is available in this phone and works in a “pane-driven rotary manner on the screen.” Nokia also claimed that the N81, which is priced roughly at 360 euros, or about $586, is the lead mobile phone for its music and N-Gage services.

The revamped Symbian Nokia N95 features a 2.8″ 320×240 display and 8GB of built-in memory. Little changed in terms of additional features; Nokia kept the dual-slide function which reveals media playback controls on one end and a phone pad at the other, as well as its Bluetooth support, HSDPA and WAN connectivity, and 5-megapixel camera. In London, Nokia’s president and CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo also displayed the phone’s ability to play video on a television by hooking it up to the big-screen using a TV-out cable. The N95 is priced at a sky-high 560 euros, or $764, somehow managing the impossible: making the iPhone look like a bargain.

Both phones will ship in the UK in October. The N95 is currently available in the UK through T-Mobile and Vodaphone, so we expect the newest models to be available at those outlets as well.
